Dr Touma is able to complete GP (Chronic Disease) Management Care Plans which may allow you to access 5 Allied Health visits (physio, podiatrist etc) per year. Not everyone is eligible for these as Medicare restrictions apply. Please notify reception when booking if your visit is for a Care Plan.
Dr Touma does not routinely prescribe medications that are potentially addictive including opioids (strong pain killers) & benzodiazapines (e.g. valium).

Dr Touma provides all aspects of Mental Health care, with particular interests in management of Men’s Mental Health and Bipolar Disorders.
If you require a Mental Health Treatment Plan to access psychologist services please speak with your regular GP. If Dr Touma is your regular GP, please advise reception at the time of booking that you require a Mental Health Treatment Plan so that a long appointment is made.

Palliative care is person and family-centred care provided for a person with an active, progressive, advanced disease, who has little or no prospect of cure and who is expected to die, and for whom the primary goal is to optimise the quality of life (Palliative Care Australia)
Dr Touma is a firm believer in providing palliative care in this manner.
Where required, all appropriate medications (including opioids & benzodiazepines) will be prescribed for people with cancer pain or those receiving palliative care.

His approach to treating children is to make healthcare an enjoyable experience so kids aren’t scared to come back. Dr Touma’s appointments are longer than most doctors giving him plenty of time to get to know your child.
The Implanon is a small hormonal rod that is inserted under your skin in your arm. It lasts 3 years and prevents 99.9% of pregnancies.
If you have problems with the rod, it can be removed and the hormones are removed from your system quickly.
With typical use, condoms are 85% effective and the contraceptive pill is 92% effective.

An insertion fee applies for Implanon insertions. A consult with Dr Touma is required to discuss your contraception options before booking in for an Implanon.
Most women can now collect their own sample for their routine Cervical Screening (Pap Smear). This is as accurate as detecting the HPV virus as having the sample collected by a doctor.

HIV prevention tablets (PrEP) can reduce your chance of getting HIV sexually by 99% in men who have sex with men.
PrEP is subsidised by the government and costs less than $30/month (or cheaper if purchased legally online).
If you have a severe iron deficiency, or have trouble taking iron tablets, your doctor may suggest that you have an iron infusion through a vein in your arm.
Additional fees apply for iron infusions.
