Cervical Screening (PAP Smear) – Self Collection

Women aged 25 – 74 should have ever been sexually active should have a Cervical Screening Test (CST) (previously called a PAP Smear) every 5 years. This test looks for a virus called HPV which is the cause of most cervical cancer. The cervix sits between the uterus (womb) and the vagina.

In 2022, the Australian Goverment introduced a Self Collection program. This allows most women to collect their own sample in the comfort of their own home. This test is safe and accurate.

Speak with your doctor about whether a Self Collection is appropriate for you.
